The Kijani Collective is a Black-led coalition dedicated to advancing climate resilience, environmental justice, and economic empowerment for Black communities. Our members bring a wealth of knowledge, skills, and passion to this mission, working collaboratively across sectors to build an equitable, sustainable future.
Our Members.
Kijani Collective members are Black-identifying individuals whose values, mindsets, and goals align with our mission and fit into one or more of the following categories:
Green-Collar Professionals & Entrepreneurs
Innovators and professionals providing climate resilience services, public education, and policy advocacy.
Community-Based Organization Professionals
Leaders and staff from aligned CBOs who integrate their work with Kijani, participate in committees, and serve as coalition spokespeople.
Government Representatives
Employees from public agencies interested in advancing greening and equity objectives while contributing to regional environmental justice efforts.
Community Partners
Residents passionate about strengthening their communities and contributing to climate resilience initiatives that center Black well-being.
How We Work Together.
Membership in the Kijani Collective is open to anyone meeting the above criteria. Members join by signing a professional services contract, committing to participate in good faith. While there is no minimum engagement requirement, members are encouraged to contribute in ways that align with their capacity and expertise.

Kijani operates on a consensus-driven decision-making model, ensuring that all voices are heard, and solutions reflect shared values. Each committee has autonomy in decision-making while aligning with coalition-wide objectives.
