Kijani Collective Launch

The Kijani Collective is off and running! With four committees leading the charge, we are laying the groundwork for a movement that centers Black leadership in climate innovation, policy, and community resilience. Each committee is tackling a critical piece of the work, ensuring that our efforts are strategic, sustainable, and deeply connected to our community’s needs.

The Work in Motion

Here are the committees that are actively engaged in advancing one of our four focus areas:

Resource Mapping & Partner Development – Identifying key assets, funding opportunities, and partners that align with our mission to build a thriving Black-led climate ecosystem.

Policy Advocacy Program – Establishing a robust framework for influencing climate policies that impact Black communities, ensuring that our voices shape local and regional decision-making.

Film & Storytelling Project – Developing a powerful film that highlights Black contributions to the climate sector and the systemic challenges that have limited broader participation and recognition.

Youth Engagement & Leadership Development – Aligning with North 2 the Numbers (N2N), a Black-specific coalition working to establish a Black Youth Council. These young leaders will take on tasks that align with Kijani’s initiatives, working alongside members to plan and implement synergistic projects.

Building for the Future

This is just the beginning. Kijani Collective is not only amplifying Black leadership in climate justice and innovation but also creating sustainable pathways for intergenerational collaboration. With youth engagement through N2N, policy advocacy shaping the future, and storytelling elevating our narratives, we are collectively forging a movement that is both transformative and enduring.
